As with most of my more-recently published poems, this one is from a work in progress, a new book which takes as its theme the rearrangements and displacements of the psyche involved in the process of early recovery from addiction. It takes the form of “raw” prose poems interspersed with “cooked” verse poems to enact and reflect on this process, and the series of “Meditations in an Emergency” poems are on the raw side.

The Mountain Anthology from Middle Creek Publishing

This anthology, released just in time for gift giving, includes one of my poems among many, many, beautiful things.

The Mountain is focused on the roles and places held by mountains in the lives of those who love them, travel them, meditate in them, choose or find challenge by them. The poets in this collection take contemplative note of their connections to mountains as a living, defining, valuable, enriching and spiritual aspect of their own personal lives. They are a part of the growing reawakening environmental consciousness and the literary canon of human ecology and rooted in such poets and writers as Walt Whitman, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Philip Whalen, Gary Snyder, John Muir, Cid Corman, Lorine Niedecker and Sam Hamill.
